In particular, the fact that active learning will be introduced in the new course is drawing a lot of attention. On the other hand, the activity of long distance running, which is a part of school athletics, tends to be seen as undesirable despite its importance in terms of educational effects and health. Therefore, focusing on long distance running activities as part of physical education classes, I would like to express my opinion on the practice of active learning. The following two facts are possible reasons for why long distance running is considered an unpopular activity in most physical education classes. Long distance running activities in physical education classes tend to focus on record measurements. Long distance running is a very effective exercise for health maintenance and improvement, but students perceive it as not being connected with actual life. Therefore, for a physical education lesson utilizing active learning, we recommend the implementation of pacing using the “Karvonen Formula” or “Rated Perceived Exertion Scale” Next, a running drill that also serves as a warming up exercise should be incorporated. At that time, students analyze the form of running movements to be analyzed using visual information.
