Using the example of Japanese-style idol training groups that have expanded into China, as well as the activities of their fan communities, we looked at the non-formal educational aspects of their activities that are the key points of this study. For this purpose, the authors have been gathering data and observing participants in Shanghai for a number of years. In Section 1, the authors provide their responses to questions and points of criticism raised in investigative and study groups both inside and outside school, and discuss the intellectual framework of this study. In Section 2, based on materials gathered online and locally, a detailed study is made of the activities of fans and their independently organized support groups. In Section 3, we present a study on the significance of fan activities for individual fans, based on transcripts of interviews with fans of relevant idol groups, to conduct an analysis from a more detailed perspective.
