However, while the philanthropism in christianigy yielded an interest in social welfare in Western socierty, jian ai did not do so in the East. Rather, it was an ideology perpetrated solely for administrative pruposes, not for unofficial practices. Thus, jian ai did not become the ideology of daily life in the East.},
