Many community-dwelling elderly individuals were familiar with local foods. Also, cooking and eating local foods contributed to improving communication among the elderly. Furthermore, we examined detailed information related to local foods. The caregivers recognized that local food was a very important factor for improving the QOL of the elderly. However, the caregivers had insufficient knowledge of local foods.
